Shearwater Health Receives Utilization Management Training Course Accreditation
Nashville, Tennessee May 11, 2023– Shearwater Health is pleased to announce that the organizations Utilization Management Academy (UMA) training courses have received accreditation from the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians (ABQAURP). As a professional association of interdisciplinary health care professionals, the ABQAURP is dedicated to improving the quality of health care through education and certification.
The UMA is a proprietary educational program co-created by UM Subject Matter Experts Amanda Jones, RN, BSN, Shearwater Health Director of UM and Payer Training and Lacie Behnke, RN, MSN-Ed, Shearwater Health Manager of Nursing Academies. Through the program, US-licensed Registered Nurses learn the fundamental concepts of UM and will be eligible to earn continuing education units towards the renewal of their US-licensure upon completion of lectures and demonstration of understanding via written tests.
Accreditation by the ABQAURP validates the quality and rigor of the Shearwater Health’s UMA program and highlights the organizations commitment to providing top-notch training to nurses. This recognition not only enhances credibility as a trusted healthcare services provider, but it also contributes to the company’s mission to improve healthcare outcomes globally.
With this accreditation, the UMA program's fundamental concepts of UM will provide nurses with a strong foundation to accurately and quickly adjudicate cases, resulting in patients receiving medically necessary care sooner and overall decreased healthcare spending. Additionally, nurses will practice skills and apply knowledge learned in a real-world replicated training environment with the use of Shearwater Health’s proprietary UM Training Platform. Based on performance, Shearwater Health UMA educators provide customized feedback and education tailored to individual clinician’s needs, thus enhancing nurse skills development.
The UMA program offers Filipino nurses an opportunity to earn continuing education units towards the renewal of their US-licensure, improving their professional development and career prospects as well as learn UM fundamental concepts, a skillset that is in high demand in the healthcare industry.
