Shearwater Health Donates Solar-Powered Water System to Cogon National High School

Island Garden City of Samal, Davao del Norte – Shearwater Health, in collaboration with Junior Chamber International (JCI) Davao and the Department of Energy - Mindanao Field Office (DOE-MFO), has donated a Solar PV Water Pumping System to Cogon National High School (CNHS) in Samal Island, Davao del Norte. This initiative aims to provide a sustainable and continuous supply of clean water to the school while reducing energy consumption and costs.

Clean water is a fundamental human right, yet it remains inaccessible to many, particularly in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs) such as CNHS. This project addresses clean water access while promoting renewable energy solutions in geographically isolated areas.

The solar-powered system, installed by Alectric Engineering Services, offers immediate relief and long-term benefits, fostering a healthier and more sustainable future for students, faculty, and the surrounding community. The donation will be formally received by CNHS Principal Mr. Noel P. Mamac during an inaugural ceremony attended by Shearwater Health’s delegation led by Country Manager & COO Anshum Sinha, alongside senior leaders, including Giselle Geronimo, VP for Finance, Accounting & Procurement and Head of Service to Others (STO), Anna Faye Monte, Associate Director for Operations & STO Site Lead for Cebu & Davao, and Lucelyn Cacho, STO Project Coordinator and other key executives.

JCI Davao will be represented by Engr. Anthony John Castro, 2025 President; Francis Frederick Consolsion, VP for Community Development; and Glenn Robledo, JCI Member & Chairman for Project WASH. DOE-MFO officials will also be present to celebrate the initiative.

As part of Shearwater Health’s Service to Others CSR program, this donation reflects the company's dedication to supporting communities where its employees are based and aligns with the mission to improve healthcare outcomes globally, recognizing the responsibility to contribute to the well-being of society, particularly in underserved areas.

“Creating transformative, long-lasting change through collaboration and sustainable solutions is part of Shearwater Health’s mission. By partnering with JCI Davao and DOE-MFO, we are demonstrating our collective resolve for clean water access while advancing renewable energy adoption,” said Giselle Geronimo, VP for Finance Accounting & Procurement and Head of Service to Others.

In addition to the launch, faculty and students will participate in informative sessions on the basics of Solar PV Water Pumping Systems, led by DOE-MFO, and first-level troubleshooting conducted by Alectric Engineering Services.

This initiative provides CNHS students and faculty with access to clean water, demonstrating Shearwater Health's commitment to tangible solutions for community well-being and environmental sustainability.
